I've been . . .

. . .  pretty busy this past week.

So here's a wee peek at just some of what I've been up to:

  •  delving into my stash and piecing together a new quilt

It's a mish-mash of fabrics, but mainly Riley Blake's Bake Sale - designed by lovely Lori Holt from Bee in My Bonnet.  It's to throw over the chaise in the kitchen on which the two most-adorable-pups-in-the-world like to lie whilst overseeing things in the kitchen and keeping an eye out the window in case the neighbour's cat dares set paws in our garden.   Our kitchen is a pretty neutral colour, so this will brighten things up.

  • finally finishing my Juliet dress

It's actually a much darker purple than it appears in this pic, and it fits just perfectly so I'm quite chuffed.
Ooh, and just by the by, it matches perfectly with our pretty hanging baskets . . .
; - )

  •   sewing 150 little puzzle bags  (as commissioned by the Hubby)

Chain-sewing was definitely the way to go - it seemed to speed up the process considerably.
So that's them all done . . . and another thing ticked off my list.

  • admiring my latest acquisition of gorgeous Art Gallery fabrics . . .  and trying to decide what to make next.  What do you think ?

Any and all suggestions/ideas will be considered so go ahead . . .suggest away !

These are both from the new Emmy Grace collection - aren't they yummy ?  And just perfect for autumn.   Not that I'm wishing summer away . . .
just saying . . .

Happy new week ahead,
'til next time
xoxo

  1. Wow your machine must have been smoking. All gorgeous makes. The figs are so beautiful I can see they need a very beautiful quilt! Do you add wadding?
Can I also be nosey enough to ask what the bags are for?
Thank for sharing such great pictures.

  6. Well done on those bags - I love crossing things off lists. I think that dress is simply divine. I love purple and that looks such a rich colour, always a bonus when it is a good fit. I am making a blouse in a silky fabric that will not stay put under the machine and I have cast on a few more projects. You know me... lots on the go. Jo x

  11. What a big load of goodies today Gill: love your quilt top and I'm sure your furry friends will too, and that dress is wonderful - such a beautifully rich colour, you'll look gorgeous in it. Gosh, you have done well to sew up all those bags - did you not become just a teeny weeny bit bored with the sameness? Congratulations on getting that job ticked off!
I'm loving all your sweet new fabrics and am thinking another quilt might be on the go but then, there could be several projects coming up depending on how much you have of each fabric - summer bags, cushions; with your imagination and talent the sky's the limit methinks :) Have yourself an exciting week, xoJoy

Art Gallery fabrics are one of my favorites. They are soft to the touch and sew up beautifully. I never want to cut them!!

  19. You're always so busy these days! But the things you create are soooooOOoo nice :) Love that cute dress, are you going to pop a purple petunia in your hair when you wear it? The 2-MAPITW seem to be looking longingly at that quilt. So pretty for the kitchen. I wish I had a little spot for a comfy chair and a quilt right in the kitchen because it's nice and bright in there ... one day! Enjoy your week Gilly, Wendy x

  22. Wow, so many pretty things in this post Gilly! The blanket is beautiful - I have a layer cake of that fabric line, I'm tempted by that brick-style of patchwork to make a kitchen-themed table runner, basically a smaller version of your quilt! :-) The dress is simply perfect, totally my style and now I want one, too! You've been a very busy bee of late, your sewing machine is getting a good workout! Chrissie xxx
